Last month when I was in Melbourne, I was angry, happy, sad and filled with envy…
Angry: Nothing good happens when control freak meets an even greater control freak. I like to make decisions when it comes to food and holiday trips. If I need someone to plan my trip, I would have went to a tour agency. I’m grateful for the amazing breakfasts but I’d want to explore the country and culture myself too, isn’t that what travelling is about? In the end, I didn’t go to the scenic Great Ocean Road, Twelve Apostles, farm stay etc even though I was there for 10 freaking days!
Happy: Happier than spending that 10 days in this red dot dealing with lesser mortals’ (quoted from our very own ministers which I finally know why when I started this job) complaints. It’s spring and the weather there was AWESOME, though cold. It was like 9 to 15 degrees most of the time, alright if without the wind! Skin was very dry though.
Sad: I wish I live there, like to study a degree or get a job and finally migrate. But I CAN’T. Where to get S$150k cash? Even got difficulty forking out that SIM $25K school fees already. If S$150K isn’t obvious enough, it’s $150,000. 6 fucking digits. I got reminded by my ex-schoolmates/classmates who are able to study overseas, wish I were them. Can only continue to wish.
Overall the food was great, I LOVE THEIR BREAKFASTS. I can’t do without breakfast. I don’t know why most of the people I know skip breakfast; a good breakfast is the start of a good day. Well, most of the time :) I’m the only one who doesn’t get sick of western food after 10 days straight of having it haha!!
Clothes are expensive but good quality and come with bright colours, far from Bangkok stocks… 一分钱一分货. Their sales are crazily good too, the shops are so ready to slash their prices! I think asians are one of the most ‘kiam’ when it comes to sales that I don’t even shop during sales here.
I see myself going back sometime again, with Gold Coast and Sydney on the same itinerary :)
